PUBLIC TRANSIT
The following provide directions to get to the Georgetown University campus by Metrorail or Metrobus. For directions to the New Research Building or Building D, see just below.
METRORAIL:
While Georgetown University is not on any metro line, two shuttle buses are available to take you from nearby metro stops. RED LINE: Take the red line to Dupont Circle, exit the station on the North side, turn left onto 20th street, and walk to the corner of 20th and Mass. Ave. Cross 20th street. White Georgetown University buses arrive at this corner every 10 to 20 minutes. These buses are free and will take you to Georgetown's campus; see directions below to the New Research Building or to Building D. BLUE/ORANGE/SILVER LINE: Take the blue, orange, or silver lines to Rosslyn, and exit the station. Turn left, walk to the end of that street, and cross in the direction you're facing. Look for a small white sign that says Georgetown University Shuttle Bus. White Georgetown University buses arrive at this corner every 10 to 20 minutes. These buses will take you to Georgetown's campus; see directions below to the New Research Building or Building D.
METROBUS:
From the south/east, take the D3 or D6 in the direction of Sibley Hospital. From the north/west take the D3 Ivy City or the D6 Stadium Armory station. These are cross-town buses and can be picked up at RFK stadium, in Chinatown, and at Dupont Circle, among other locations. Exit the bus at the Georgetown University Dental School (or after Entrance 2 of the Georgetown University Hospital on Reservoir Road at 38th street). Cross Reservoir Road and turn left at Entrance 3 of the Georgetown University Medical Center. Climb the staircase on your right and walk past Building D; the New Research Building will be found straight ahead of you. Come to room EP-07 on floor P, the floor onto which you enter. Building D will be on your right hand side once you climb the staircase on your right. Come to room 235 on the second floor. Alternately, you can take the G2 in the direction of Georgetown University. The G2 starts at Howard University and follows P street NW for most of its route. Exit this bus at the end of the line, enter Georgetown's gates and turn right. Follow this sidewalk until it ends at the Georgetown Shuttle Bus stop, and follow the directions below to the New Research Building or to Building D. Georgetown also operates shuttle bus service from the Dupont Circle and Rosslyn metro stops, which are themselves quite accessible. See above for directions and prices for these buses.
See below for directions to individual buildings.
DIRECTIONS TO THE NEW RESEARCH BUILDING:
Much of the Medical Center's accessibility has been impeded by ongoing construction projects. Please use these temporary directions in the meantime:
From Reservoir Road: The New Research Building is located at Entrance 3 on Reservoir Road, which is almost directly across from the French Embassy. From Entrance 1 (near Epicurean and Darnall Hall), turn left on Reservoir Road. When you get to Entrance 3, take the stairs on the right (just past the parking garage). Continue walking straight until you see a building in front of you labeled "New Research Building." We are located on the first floor, or floor P. Take a left through the glass doors, and then take another left just past the elevators. Room EP-07 will be found on your right.
From the Shuttle Bus: The Georgetown Shuttle Bus enters the Hospital at Entrance 1 on Reservoir Road, stopping on the east side of the road. From the Georgetown Shuttle Bus stop, cross the street ahead of you and follow the sidewalk in the direction of the Pasquarilla Health Center (notable for its large green awnings). Follow the sidewalk to the left of the Pasquarilla building; you'll walk underneath a very large vehicle shelter where buses wait for the conference center. Turn right after exiting the shelter, and you'll be facing the Lombardi Cancer Center. Walk towards the Lombardi Cancer Center, but do not enter the building. There is a small path to the left of the Lombardi Cancer Center entrance. Take this path and walk past a small fishpond on your right. You'll soon see an outside staircase on your right. Come up these stairs, and you'll be facing a quad. Take a left. You should soon be facing the New Research Building, which says "New Research Building" on the entrance. Please enter the building, walk through the glass doors on the left, and then take a left immediately after the elevators. We're in the New Research Building room EP-07, on your right side, across from the main office of the Neurosicence Department.
If you get lost, please call the lab at (202)687-2113, or dial 7-2113 from any campus phone.
DIRECTIONS TO BUILDING D:
From Reservoir Road: Follow the directions under "Directions to the New Research Building; From Reservoir Road" until you reach the stairs next to the parking garage. The first building on your right at the top of the stairs is Building D. We are located in 235, which can be found by going up to the second floor (via the stairs on the right or the elevator on the left), taking a left to the end of the hall, and then taking another left. Room 235 is located on your left-hand side.
From the Shuttle Bus: To get to Building D, follow the directions just under "Directions to the New Research Building; From the Shuttle Bus" until you see the staircase at then end of the path that passes the fishpong. Climb the stairs and cross the quad. At the end of the quad turn left, and walk past several statues on your right. You will see Building D in front of you, which is labeled as such above the entrance. We are located in 235, which can be found by going up to the second floor, taking a left to the end of the hall, and then taking another left. Room 235 is located on your left-hand side.
