Roland Dimaya

Research Interests: Roland Dimaya is a pre-med undergraduate majoring in Human Science in the School of Nursing and Health Studies and minoring in Studio Art. In the Brain and Language Lab, he is pursuing research on Tourette's Syndrome for an Honors Thesis for his major. He plans to focus on language function and grammar in individuals with Tourette's syndrome and the implications these discoveries may hold on characterizing and treating Tourette's syndrome. Outside the lab, Roland is a photographer for the Georgetown College Research News Magazine.

Research Interests: Matt Gelfand is an undergraduate who has spent the last three summers doing research in the lab. His primary focus is on the neurocognition of language in left-handers as compared with right-handers, and he hopes to provide a more percise treatment of the subject than previous research has allowed. Outside of the lab, Matt enjoys technical theater and, during the summer months, boating on the Potomac River.
Selin Gulgoz

Research Interests: Selin Gulgoz is an exchange student from Istanbul, Turkey. She is a junior in Psychology at Koc University. In the lab, she is helping research on Past Tense Production, especially for people with developmental disorders such as Autism and Tourette Syndrome, as well as those with various other brain damages.
Stephanie Lukas
School: Georgetown College 2008
Major: Linguistics
Research Interests: Stephanie Lukas is a senior in the college majoring in Linguistics and minoring in Cognitive Science. In the lab, she worked as a undergraduate assistant to Kara Morgan-Short, PhD, on the Brocanto2 artificial language study, investigating the neurocognitive effects of implicit and explicit training on SLA. She is currently working on a shoot-off of the Brocanto2 study to examine the long term effects of training condition on language retention, including how the on-line processing of linguistic information may change over time. Outside the lab, Stephanie is a member of Alpha Phi Omega, a co-ed service fraternity, and also on the board of Hoyathon 2008.
Brittany Sonnichsen
School: Georgetown College 2008
Major: Psychology, Pre-med, and Music
Research Interests: Brittany Sonnichsen is a senior undergraduate majoring in Psychology and minoring in Cognitive Science and Music. In the Brain and Language Lab, she has conducted research with Robbin Miranda, PhD, on studies involving rule-governed and idiosyncratic aspects of music and language. Brittany plans to investigate the relationship between episodic memory performance in music and language, as well as whether sex differences exist in episodic memory of these domains. Outside the lab, Brittany is a member of the Varsity Softball Team and the Georgetown Jazz Ensemble.
